On July 27, 2023, the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) announced the projects that won the prestigious FIDIC Project Awards on the occasion of the organization’s 110th anniversary of its founding.
After reviewing all submissions, the award jury selected 30 projects that met the advanced criteria to receive Certificates of Merit for the FIDIC Project Award 2023 (Award of Merit). These projects come from the following countries: Australia, Botswana, Canada, China, Croatia, France, Ireland, Mozambique, Philippines, Singapore, Somalia, Korea, United States and Vietnam.
These awards recognise, highlight and reward the achievements and successes of consulting engineering member firms across the globe and the important impact their projects have on social, economic and environmental quality of life around the world.
Project submittals should demonstrate, in addition to the quality of the design and construction and positive economic impact, how their project addresses environmental and social safeguards, sustainability, benefits and impacts on society, UN SDGs and climate change effects. Projects of all sizes (large and small) will be considered.

The Van Don – Mong Cai Expressway project is carried out by TEDI-HAED as design consultant, implemented in the form of public-private partnership (PPP), Build – Operate – Transfer (BOT) contract. approved by the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh province in decision No. 418/QD-UBND dated February 9, 2018.
The project includes 02 component projects, specifically as follows: Van Don – Tien Yen Expressway Project with a length of 16.08Km and Tien Yen – Mong Cai Expressway Project with a length of about 63.29 km. The project scale includes 4 expressway lanes (lane width B=3.75m/lane).
The expressway is designed in accordance with the technical requirements of an expressway operating at a speed of 120km/h, in addition, the geometric and plan elements are harmoniously combined ensure safety during exploitation as well as create landscape for the route.
The construction project aims to improve the transportation system in the Northeast region of Vietnam. On the one hand, it improves the travel needs of the locality as well as surrounding areas and reduces environmental pollution. On the other hand, the project gradually improves the regional transportation network.
The project contributes to promoting socio-economic development in the region, reducing transportation costs as well as repair costs or environmental fees.
