The Chau Doc Bridge project was designed by TEDI with a permanent reinforced concrete structure, of which the Chau Doc Bridge is 667m long, with a span diagram of 39.15+3×40+39.15+(70+120+70)+39.15+3×40+29.15m.
The main bridge is 260m long with a balanced cantilever box girder structure. The length of the approach bridge on the Chau Doc side is 193.45m, on the Tan Chau side is 213.55m. The cross-section of the bridge is 14m wide, including 2 lanes for motor vehicles 2×3.50m; 2 lanes for mixed vehicles 2×3.00m; railings on both sides 2×0.50m.
This is a project under the project to build a regional connecting road with a total length of 21km, starting at the intersection with DT. 954 Long Son ward, Tan Chau town, An Giang province; end point at the intersection with National Highway 91, Vinh My ward, Chau Doc city, An Giang.
TEDI conducted the survey and design work for Chau Doc Bridge under special conditions, from the end of September 2021, when the whole country was implementing lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in the southern provinces and cities. At times, all airports were closed, and TEDI workers and engineers had to travel by car from Hanoi to An Giang to conduct the survey. The travel process encountered many difficulties, and in order to pass through the checkpoints along the way, the Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee had to issue Official Dispatch No. 1256/UBND-KTN dated October 9, 2021 to 23 provinces and cities from Hanoi to Can Tho to request that localities create favorable conditions. However, overcoming all difficulties from strictly controlled site surveys, design work that sometimes had to be done both at the office and online at home due to the impact of the epidemic, TEDI engineers completed the Consulting work to ensure quality and progress in 75 days according to the Investor’s requirements, promptly starting the project on March 28, 2022.
When completed, the project will gradually complete the N1 route according to the plan, eliminating bottlenecks when using ferries to cross the river, contributing to completing the inter-regional transport system, shortening the time from the Western provinces, such as Dong Thap, An Giang, Kien Giang to Ho Chi Minh City, promoting socio-economic development, tourism…
Chau Doc Bridge is meaningful not only for the people of An Giang serving the socio-economic development connection in the province, but also contributing to completing the inter-regional transport system connecting Kien Giang – An Giang – Dong Thap provinces. The project will shorten the time from the Western provinces to Ho Chi Minh City, promoting economic development, tourism in the border area.
The project is even more meaningful when it is officially opened to traffic and put into service on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the country’s reunification day.
