According to the information from Hai Phong City today (8/10), the construction contractors are rushing to complete the very last items so as to open Hoang Van Thu bridge that has a total budget of more than 2,000 billion dong and the shape of a seabird’s wings which is said to be “unique”.

Being started on January 6, 2017, Hoang Van Thu Bridge is one of the main items of the project on investment and construction of technical infrastructure for the new urban area in the north of Cam river, which is also one of key traffic construction works with the total investment of VND 2,176 billion (from the city budget and other sources).
The employer of Hoang Van Thu bridge is the Urban Development Construction Management Board. The bridge is designed in the form of an arch shape with 3 spans, two of which are reinforced concrete arch structures and the main span is concrete filled steel tube, its length of 290m, width of 33.5m and including 4 lanes for motorized vehicles, 2 mixed lanes and 2 sidewalks. Transport Engineering Design Incorporated (TEDI) is the agency responsible for designing the bridge.
According to Hai Phong city, the construction and opening of Hoang Van Thu Bridge for public use shall contribute to the expansion of the urban development of Hai Phong city to the north as per the direction of developing urban space. In particular, this is the starting work for the construction to move the city’s administrative and political center to a new, larger and more modern location, creating a foundation for the development of Hai Phong in the future.
Up to now, all the preparations for the opening ceremony and the inauguration ceremony have basically been completed according to the plan. The quality of Hoang Van Thu bridge project items is being evaluated and assessed by the acceptance board to meet the requirements of design, technical instructions, art and quality ensurement, and eligibility for opening for technical vehicle use.
