On February 26, 2021, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The and Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, chaired a workshop for Commenting for road network planning in 2021 – 2030. Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Phan Xuan Dung said that transport infrastructure plays an important role in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security. This is also one of the three strategic breakthroughs during many terms stated in the documents of the National Party Congress.

Attending the wokshop, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The thanked VUSTA for organizing the workshop with the participation of many scientists in all fields, including the transport sector and said: “Here is a great source of encouragement for the transport industry. VUSTA is the most intellectual organization because it concentrates experts who are trained in theory, with great practical experience of the ministries and agencies “. Therefore, Minister Nguyen Van The hopes to receive many valuable discussions with profound practical significance for the transport sector to complete the planning report.
At the workshop, Mr. Pham Huu Son – General Director of TEDI gave a brief report on the road planning content. The content of planning report with a large amount of data and meticulously implemented has been highly appreciated by scientists.
With the profound contributions of scientists in many fields, the content of the planning documents also needs to really accurately review the purpose, progress, quality, detailed and specific analysis, so that the planning must be associated with the general trend of the world, for example: China’s belt and road program, new Belgian strategies and their impact assessments.
Examining and evaluating the lessons learned in the past time in order to have the right solutions in the coming time on issues such as the assignment of projects to localities or the Ministry of Transport, BOT, investor, investment model, operation maintenance, fee collection… Especially the socialization transport projects have been assigned to determine how much public investment, how much socialization; Planning must be attached to the strategy and contents stated in the document of the XIII Congress of the Party, but must be a specific issue of the transport industry ”.
Conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Phan Xuan Dung wishes this plan to be completed soon to be approved. Road planning develops quickly and sustainably, but must be associated with environmental protection and climate change. Vietnam’s traffic construction must be placed in the context of rapidly developing science and technology (Intelligent traffic) in the 4th industrial revolution of self-driving cars, sensors … ”
